The British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd. was formed in 2004 and through 2009 one of our leading efforts was to raise funds and awareness for the British Garden in New York. The Park in Lower Manhattan, honours the sixty seven British victims of the World Trade Centre attacks, whilst celebrating the historic ties of friendship binding the United States and Britain.
As we approach the 10th Anniversary of the tragedies of that day, the Directors of the British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd would like to thank all those who have supported and helped us in our efforts to support the project in New York.
Below are photographs of visits by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall as they unveil the centre stone for the British Memorial Garden, New York, as Camilla G. Hellman, then President of the British Memorial Garden Trust Inc., looks on.
The Park, reopened in 2008, and was officially renamed the British Garden during a visit by HRH Prince (Harry) Henry of Wales in May 2009, the picture below shows the official naming of the Garden.
